The SMA Home Storage is SMA's modular high-voltage home battery, built on stackable 3.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) modules (HS-BM-3.28-10). Systems scale from 3.28 to 16.40 kWh usable energy (1 to 5 modules, 96–480 V nominal), with a maximum charge/discharge current of 36 A and 94.5% battery efficiency. It pairs natively with SMA's hybrid inverters: Sunny Boy Smart Energy (1–4 modules) and Sunny Tripower Smart Energy (2–5 modules).

Designed for intensive use, the battery is rated for around 8,000 charging cycles and covered by a 10-year warranty after product registration plus a 12-year performance guarantee. The slim IP65 enclosure permits floor, wall, back-to-back and even outdoor installation, with plug-and-play MC4 DC connections, preassembled cables and automatic commissioning; an integrated black-start function provides backup supply together with the SMA hybrid inverter, and capacity can be expanded within 2 years of commissioning.
